TRAVEL INSURANCE

You must arrange travel insurance prior to entering Indonesia. Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation. We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation, curtailment, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects.

MONEY

The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). Cash is the preferred method of payment in most places. We recommend withdrawing IDR at the airport. Before you travel, ensure that your bank cards will work in Indonesia.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS TO INDONESIA

Visa and other entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. Check with your nearest Embassy or Consulate of Indonesia for the most up-to-date information. We recommend consulting the Smart Traveller website for up to date information: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations/asia/indonesia#travel

It is your responsibility to obtain information and to have in your possession all the required documentation and identification required for entry, departure and travel to each country or region you visit on your trip. This includes a valid passport and all travel documents required by the relevant governmental authorities including all visas, permits and certificates (including but not limited to vaccination or medical certificates) and insurance policies.

You can apply for an electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) in advance only if you are entering Indonesia at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta or Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali. Check the e-VOA requirements from Indonesian Immigration before applying. To apply for an e-VOA see https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/.

To enter Indonesia, you must have received a full initial COVID-19 vaccine course (usually 2 doses), completed at least 14 days prior to arrival.

Local authorities and travel providers will require you to use Indonesia’s COVID-19 Peduli Lindungi app on arrival. Download the app before you arrive. You’ll be required to complete an e-customs declaration for arrival. You can complete this within 3 days of departure to Indonesia at https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/.

MEDICAL AND HEALTH INFORMATION

All participants need to be in good physical health in order to participate fully on this trip. When selecting your trip please make sure you have read through the ability guide and itinerary carefully to assess your ability and to cope with our style of travel. Please note that if, in the opinion of your guide, any traveler is unable to complete the itinerary without undue risk to themselves and/or the rest of the group, Mint Tours reserves the right to exclude them from all or part of a trip without refund. We recommend bringing a supply of face masks, hand sanitizer and RAT tests. Please ensure that you are adequately prepared.

WEATHER

Like all Indonesian islands, Lombok has a tropical climate. While the weather is humid, the good news is that it’s drier than Bali’s. The water is always warm, hovering around 27-29°C.

TIPPING

At the end of your trip, if you’re happy with the service you received, providing a tip for your coach/guide, though not compulsory, is appreciated. While it may not be customary to you, it is of great significance to the people who will take care of you during your trip.

FITNESS

Surfing is physically demanding, but with a few simple preparations you can ensure that you’re ready to make the most of your powder experience. It’s best to start your physical conditioning routine before your powder holiday. Incorporate cardio as well as some muscle conditioning into your workout, focusing on abdominal and core stability. Swimming, stair-climbers, interval training and other aerobic activities are always helpful. While on tour, we recommend stretching every morning and evening. If you need some extra help, book a massage when you are in-resort.

ITINERARY

Our itinerary may change to reflect the current situation in each destination. The order and timing of included activities in each location may also vary to ensure our travelers have the best experience. Your guide will keep you up to date with any changes once on tour.

SURF SESSIONS

Surf session usually takes around 4 hours of your day with 2 full hours in the water. All the surf spots are 15-40-minute drive from Kuta plus a short 5-10 minute boat ride as majority of the breaks are reef breaks. If you are a complete beginner, then you’ll start your surfing adventure at a dreamy beach break where you simply walk into the water waist deep to catch your first waves and get familiar with the board. The reef breaks for advanced beginners, intermediate and advanced levels are in equally beautiful locations.

YOGA & SUNSET MEDITATION

The yoga classes are not just the typical yoga classes. Aside from restoring your body after the intense days of surfing, the goal is to inspire you and offer you the tools to improve your wellbeing. The carefully crafted yoga programme includes: yoga foundations workshop, surf dynamics, breathwork, surf flow, post surf recovery and sunset nature meditation. You don’t have to be an experienced yogi to enjoy it all!

SURF STRENGTH TRAINING

Conducted by a professional trainer and a surfer, using an approach to surf strength and movement uses advanced training principles out of the water, which support strengthening for all fitness abilities from beginners to professionals in mobility, stability, flexibility, balance and high intensity movements.

COCO, SAMBAL & COFFEE WORKSHOP

You’ll get to experience a coco, sambal and coffee workshop run by a women’s collective from Kuta, Lombok. They will show you the ancestral way of making coconut oil, sambal and spill out a few secrets of the Lombok coffee. You’ll also hear about the Sasak black magic (yes, Lombok is a place, where black magic is part of daily life) and you’ll get to take some coconut oil home.

IF A GUEST TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

If a guest tests positive for COVID-19, they will be assisted to leave the tour and access medical care (if required). Our goal is to keep the trip going wherever possible unless we are required to end the trip in line with local regulations. It is not mandatory for other travelers on a trip to be tested if there is a confirmed case of COVID-19. We encourage guests to bring their own RAT tests from home to make this process easier.

MASK WEARING AND OTHER PREVENTION MEASURES

We encourage guests to bring their own supply of masks from home as it is sometimes difficult to source them on tour. Wear a face mask in public places where you can’t social distance, particularly on public transport and in enclosed spaces. Many shops, restaurants and other places ask visitors to use hand sanitizer when entering.

CONDUCT ON TOUR

There’s no better education than travel. Exploring the world opens your eyes to different cultures, different communities and a new way of living, and traveling responsibly goes hand in hand with this education. Help us protect the places and communities we visit and please respect your fellow tour mates and our Mint team. We will not tolerate offensive or aggressive behavior, extreme intoxication or excessive noise. We reserve the right to cancel your booking should this occur. If any damage occurs to the property you are liable to pay for all damages.

SEA SICKNESS

If you suffer from sea sickness, please bring medication with you as you may travel by boat to some surf spots.

FAQ

What is in the area?

Our retreat is located in a quiet area, just a 7 minute  drive to the coolest street in Kuta, with many bars and restaurants. There are also a few surf shops and supermarkets nearby. We are only a 7 minute drive down the hill and we offer a free flexible shuttle, so you can access Kuta center easily whenever you want to.

..

What power plugs do you use?

We use European plugs on the island.

..

What kind of food can I expect?

We care a lot about food and the ingredients that we use. Our food is healthy and nutritious, and caters to various dietary requirements, such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free or dairy-free diets. We also have options for seafood lovers and carnivores. Every day we will surprise you with a breakfast special that you can opt for, such as pineapple pancakes, shakshuka, gado-gado, Scramble My Sambal (egg scramble on home-made sourdough with an Indonesian twist) and more. There is also a restaurant serving a range of filling and creative dishes, smoothies and cocktails, which you can enjoy by the pool overlooking the ocean. Dinners are varied and we have a BBQ on arrival night.

..

Do you have Wi-Fi?

Yes, we do! Wi-Fi is available in all areas of the Retreat. If you really need to do some work, every room has a spacious desk and is soundproof. Although we hope you can just relax while staying with us and forget about work.

..

What facilities are there?

Spa, restaurant & bar, shop, infinity pool with ocean views, yoga shala with ocean views and lounge area (indoor/outdoor), A/C and hot water (not so common in this part of the world) in all rooms, swimming pool, lounge area, free water (you will only need to have your own reusable bottle as we aim to be plastic-free), coffee and tea all day.

..

Do you split people into groups based on their level?

Yes! We divide our guests into groups based on their level. It may happen that different levels will go to the same surf spot but will be surfing different sections of the wave. We always choose the spot that is most suitable for individual guests on a given day.

..

Do you always go to the same surf spot?

No. We try to show our guests different spots in the area. However, it will all depend on the surf level and the surf conditions. Sometimes we may not be able to take you to a new spot if the waves are too big/too small or we know a different spot will be very crowded. We want you to make the most of your time and waves here.

..

Are both longboarders and shortboarders welcome?

Yes! Lombok is great for all types of boards except for guns – we don’t have big wave surfing here. So whether you ride a longboard or a shortboard, you’ll have a great time here. Board is also included in the package. We have boards ranging from 6’0ft to 9’2ft.

..

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes – everyone staying with us needs to have their own travel insurance

..

What time is the check-in and check-out?

Check-in 2 pm / Check out 11 am. But you can leave your luggage with us if you arrive earlier or leave later and hang out by the pool or in the lounge area.
