FREERIDE TIROL'S BEST SKI AND SNOWBOARD RESORTS WITH OUR LOCAL GUIDE
Join the Innsbruck Freeride Tour for a week of chasing storm cycles, riding varied terrain, and unlocking the kind of lines only locals know — all led by Tyrol-based pro snowboarder Roland Morley-Brown. Roland lives and rides in this region, knows every corner of these mountains, and brings the hype wherever he goes. From storm-day tree laps to high-alpine zones, he’ll put you in the right place at the right time — and keep the energy high all week long. Expect good snow, good terrain, and even better vibes.
Innsbruck is the snowboarding capital of Europe and where the city meets the alpine. You’re probably thinking why stay in the city? It’s all about the access, terrain and snow quality. Within a 30 – 50 minute drive, you’ve got dozens of places to ride – from smaller old-school ski hills to the modern mega resorts, all filled with endless riding options from alpine to the trees. Of course, no trip is complete without a day riding the famed Stubai Glacier. There’s arguably no zone in Europe that’s littered with as many good spots to ride, still with minimal tourists and insane snow quality.
While the Austrian Tyrol is home to some of the biggest resorts in the world, some of the best powder days are to be had in smaller, ‘locals’ resorts which get overlooked. These are our secret spots where you’ll still find powder, even days after a storm. Our local Innsbruck guide is on-hand to give you that local intel and put you in the right spot each day for the best snow. You’ll chase the snow and ride at different resorts each day.
On this trip you’ll stay in the heart of Innsbruck’s historic Old Town so you can immerse yourself in the culture as well as enjoy the vibrant hustle and bustle. The city is steeped in history and it’s a tourist attraction in its own right. Each night, join the crew to explore the narrow winding streets of old town packed with traditional restaurants, bars and beer halls.

SNOW & CONDITIONS
March in Tyrol is the sweet spot for chasing lines, exploring new zones, and making the most of everything this region has to offer. Resorts are quieter, the snow is still on point, and the mountains are wide open. While many assume the season starts to wind down, March often brings deep, cold storms followed by clear windows that open up access to higher alpine terrain. And even on days without new snowfall, the combination of elevation, aspect, and our local guide’s knowledge means you’ll still be finding fresh turns well after a storm has passed.
INNSBRUCK CITY-STAY
This tour gives you more than just great snow — it’s a full cultural hit. Based in the heart of Innsbruck, you’ll experience life in one of Europe’s most historic and lively mountain cities. By night, you’ve got endless food, beer, and entertainment options just steps from your hotel. By day, your guide will shuttle you out of the city to chase the best conditions across the region. With dozens of resorts within reach, every day offers something different — from high-alpine bowls to hidden tree zones. Where you ride depends on the snow, the weather, and the group’s appetite for adventure. Drive times typically range from 30 to 70 minutes — and every mission is worth it.
ABOUT INNSBRUCK
Innsbruck is the capital of the Tyrol region and sits at the crossroads of alpine access and rich history. With over 30 resorts within driving distance, it’s the perfect launch pad for a snow-focused adventure. Home to 128,000 residents, the city offers all the services and convenience you'd expect — plus a cultural backdrop that adds depth to every day. Step into the Old Town and you’ll find narrow, winding streets leading to the iconic Golden Roof — a Gothic-era, three-story balcony built in the 15th century. It’s a city that blends mountain life with centuries of history — and it’s all right outside your door.
Your Own Private Room Guaranteed
You’ll be based in a 4-star hotel right in the heart of Innsbruck’s Old Town — steps from historic landmarks, restaurants, and nightlife. Each guest enjoys the comfort and privacy of their own room with an ensuite bathroom. It’s your space to unwind, organize your gear, and reset after big days on the mountain — no shared rooms, no compromises. The hotel also features a generous breakfast spread each morning and an underground spa and sauna — the perfect place to soak, sweat, and recover before doing it all again the next day. Solo travelers especially love the balance of comfort, privacy, and unbeatable location.
Small Group, Big Advantage
We keep our groups capped at 6 riders — one of the smallest client-to-guide ratios in the industry. It’s the sweet spot: big enough for a solid crew vibe, but small enough to move efficiently and make the most of every day on snow. Smaller groups mean more flexibility, quicker calls on where to ride, and easier access to the terrain that makes each destination special. It also allows for a more personal connection with your guide — so you’re not just following someone down the hill, you’re riding with someone who knows your style and can elevate your experience.
Flexible Itinerary, Better Riding
Unlike being stuck at one resort, this tour is built for flexibility. Based in Innsbruck, with over 30 resorts within reach, your local Mint Tours guide will assess weather, snowfall, and conditions each morning to decide where to ride. This means you’re always chasing the best snow — whether it’s a quiet locals’ hill after a storm or higher alpine terrain on a bluebird day. With no fixed plan and local knowledge leading the way, every day is about maximizing conditions and making the most of your time on snow.

DAY 1 – Arrival & Warm-Up
Touch down in Innsbruck—Europe’s freeride hub. Your Mint guide will meet you at Innsbruck Airport (INN) or Hauptbahnhof (HBF) and run the quick ten-minute transfer to our 4-star Old-Town basecamp. Check in, dial your gear, then stretch the legs with a stroll through the medieval quarter and a first look at the surrounding peaks.
That evening we shift straight into Austrian mode with a welcome dinner at a classic beer hall: solid food, local lagers, and trip brief. If you’ve arrived solo (plenty do), this is where the week’s crew gets locked in.
DAYS 2 – 6 – Storm-Chasing
Five full riding days. No fixed schedule—just the best snow we can find inside a 30–70-minute strike zone that holds more than a dozen resorts plus a stack of locals-only hills. Your guide tracks weather overnight; each morning you get the call on destination, expected snowpack, and line options.
Morning
-
Hearty buffet, daily briefing, van out around 07:30.
-
Drive time used for conditions update, plan refinement, and caffeine.
On-Mountain
-
First-chair mentality. If it’s nuking, we farm trees; if it’s blue, we push high-alpine bowls and faces.
-
On-mountain lunch—Tyrolean soups, schnitzel, strudel—then straight back on the throttle. Legs will burn.
Afternoon / Après
-
Lifts close, but the day isn’t done: beers in the parking lot, or classic Austrian après depending on crew energy. Back to the hotel ~17:00 to reset.
Evening
-
Group dinner at hand-picked spots: Austrian fare one night, Italian and wood-fired pizza the next, always quality, always local.
-
Bars and late-night options a two-minute walk if you’ve still got gas in the tank—Old Town makes it easy.
DAY 7 – Departure
Final breakfast, gear pack, and transfers back to INN or HBF. Week’s worth of vertical in your legs, fresh contacts in your phone, and a standing invite to link up again when the next storm cycle hits.
(Need more turns? Ask about tagging onto our next tour.)
This tour is built for advanced snowboarders and skiers who want to ride hard, chase snow, and explore beyond the obvious. You should be confident in variable snow, navigating steeper terrain, and riding off-piste all day. We’re not here to lap groomers — this is about finding the best lines, adapting to conditions, and making the most of every run. If you’re comfortable riding in mixed groups, moving efficiently, and are up for a proper freeride mission, this tour is for you.
If you’re not quite at the required ability level for this tour, reach out to the Mint team. We’ll help you find a more suitable option or guide you on how to build the skills needed to join this tour in the future.
When you’re ready to book, you’ll be asked to self-assess your riding or skiing ability. The more accurately you evaluate your skills, the better the group dynamic — ensuring everyone can ride at the right pace and get the most out of the experience.
What Is The Terrain Like?
This tour is all about lift-accessed freeriding, with a strong focus on off-piste terrain. While you’ll be riding within resort boundaries, we steer clear of groomers whenever possible. Austrian resorts offer a massive variety of terrain — from wide-open bowls and steep pitches to natural features and the occasional treed section. Expect long descents, plenty of vertical, and runs that can stretch 10–15 minutes depending on the line and your pace. It’s all about finding the best snow and making the most of what the mountain gives us — no touring gear or avy kit required.
Who is the guide?
Your lead for this tour is pro snowboarder Roland Morley-Brown. Based in Tyrol during the winter, Roland knows this region inside out — from the big-name resorts to the quiet locals-only zones. He’s a seasoned rider with a background in filming, backcountry riding, and guiding, and brings a dialed mix of local knowledge, safety awareness, and all-time stoke. Riding with Roland feels less like following a guide and more like dropping in with someone who knows how to get the most out of every day.
Are Lift Tickets Included?
Yes, all lift tickets are included.
Which resorts will we visit?
We keep the tour itinerary flexible so you can ride at the best resort on the day. Each day your guide will make the decision on which resort to ride based on a number of factors including weather, snowfall, group ability and interest. We have many resorts that we can access. The driving time to each destination varies and can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour from the hotel in Innsbruck.
Budgeting For The Tour
Here’s an indication of what you can expect to pay for meals and activities:
- 6 x Lunches – expect to pay USD $15 – $25 per meal
- 5 x Dinners – expect to pay USD $35 – $50 per meal
How Far In Advance Do I Need To Book?
Austria is our most sought-after Europe destination, and availability can be limited. While we can’t guarantee how quickly it will fill, we advise booking early to secure your desired travel dates. Historically, tours tend to reach full capacity by the end of June, significantly before our final booking cut-off of 90 days prior to departure. Book now to avoid missing your chance!
Who’ll Be On Tour With You?
Expect a like-minded crew who are here for the same reason — to chase snow, ride hard, and enjoy everything the Alps have to offer. Just a solid group that’s all about good turns, good vibes, and a few beers at the end of the day.
