Naeba Snowboard Tours
Despite being one of the most well known ski resorts among the locals, it’s surprising that Naeba has remained relatively unknown to powderhounds heading over to Japan. If you’re seeking a resort with all the bells and whistles, plus easily accessible from Tokyo, Naeba definitely delivers. Made up of 4 resort areas, Mt Naeba offers a wide variety of terrain for all ability levels – from cruisy groomers (up to 20km in total!) spread across the lower and mid mountain, to steeper intermediate and advanced terrain in higher elevations. For free riders, Naeba is a perfect shred destination, with 4 specially crafted terrain parks, including an epic bank and wave course, kicker and jib park and a snowcross track. Naeba boasts one of the largest areas of terrain in Japan, and it’s elevation at almost 1800m means snow quality is quite superb. Even more impressive is the famous Dragondola – a mammoth 5.5km gondola (the largest in the world!) that connects Naeba with Kagura Ski Resort. Generally, Naeba has had a strict off-piste policy, however in recent years, ski patrol in many areas of the resort have become a bit more relaxed – especially over in Kagura, where the tree riding and backcountry options are a-plenty, allowing for some perfect big mountain powder turns. With the resort open until 9PM daily (10PM on Saturdays), Naeba is an epic choice for those keen to tick off more first-to-last-chair riding days!
