OVERVIEW

Naeba is vibrant and expansive resort, offering a wide array of ski runs, easy access to nearby resorts and a huge variety of accommodation. It’s perfect for skiers of any level with a large range of slopes and is also perfect for families with a large range of facilities designed to make both parent’s and children’s visits an enjoyable one! The Naeba Prince Hotel is arguably a skier’s paradise, spread across the foot of the slopes and offering sleeping for 4,000 guests with over 23 restaurants and a range of spas, a childcare centre and bars to enjoy an après-ski drink, plus more. For families the convenience of close access to everything and a range of children’s activities makes it easy for all members to enjoy the holiday. The size and scale of Naeba will impress – it’s home to the country’s largest ropeway, the “Dragondola” that connects the nearby resorts of Tashiro, Kagura and Mitsumata ski areas. Backcountry tours are available as well as snowshoe tours and ski schools for all experience levels, and English and Chinese  speaking guides are available within the resort. There are large family dedicated areas – with rides and a whole host of entertaining activities for little and big kids. Naeba offers a unique indoor and outdoor ski program designed just for kids who have never skied before, start off in the comfort of a warm and safe indoor facility, and move on to the outdoor facilities once confidence and skill levels have improved. Indoor and outdoor onsen and massage services – not to mention full-service day spas provide after ski relaxation and rejuvenation. It’s not only great for skiers; the Naeba Roxy Park will ensure snowboarders get their fair share of time to enjoy as well, with a range of jumps, jibs, rails.

ACCOMMODATION
You definitely won’t have any issues finding accommodation in Naeba, with the large, famous Prince Hotel located right at the foot of the slopes. With 1,224 rooms sleeping up to 4,000 guests, you’ll probably be able to find a room here that suits your needs. The hotel also has the benefit of being pretty much the center of activity throughout the resort, so you’ll be well situated to get around and to entertain yourself here. There are also a number of smaller, cosier pensions located nearby, including some traditional Japanese ryokans and pensions. These are good options for budget travellers, with the only downside being you’ll be slightly further away from the slopes. However, these definitely offer a cosier experience and often a more authentic and culturally immersive one, too, which is great for those who’d like to experience the friendliness of the Japanese or try some delicious home-style cooking.

NAEBA & KAGURA TOURS
Join us for an authentic Japan experience as we explore the resorts in Yuzawa aka ‘Snow Country’. This region consists of three prefectures located just a few hundred kilometres northwest of Tokyo. Along with having over 20 different resorts to ride, Yuzawa also offers a very authentic Japanese experience. We stay in a luxury ryokan where you’ll experience Japanese hospitality (omotenashi), dine on multi-course kaiseki dinners and breakfasts, relax at the end of the day in the open-air onsen (hot spring) and sample the best local sake. From our luxury ryokan we set out each day to chase the snow and there’s a good reason this area is known as ‘Snow Country’. The surrounding alpine ranges regularly receive heavy snow during winter.

Our tour base is in the heart of Echigo Yuzawa township which allows us to explore multiple ski areas from the inter-connected resorts of Naeba and Kagura in the south, through to the relatively undiscovered powder spots of Joetsu Kokusai and Hakkaisan in the north of Yuzawa. The snowboarding and skiing in this part of Japan is unlike other zones within Honshu. The air currents coming off the Sea of Japan collect moisture that hits the cold alpine ranges, such as Naeba, Kagura and Tanigawa Dake, where air quickly cools and dumps heavy snow across the region. This unique weather pattern ensures Yuzawa has one of the highest annual snowfalls in Japan.
