About the area
Our home base is magnificently located in the shores of Lake Wanaka, just an hours drive from Queenstown International Airport. Our location gives us easy access to Cardrona – our favourite resort in the southern hemishphere. We have our 4WD vehicles on standby to shuttle you to the resort daily. For anyone wanting to get their powder fix, we have an optional heli-ski day where we’ll make your powder dreams a reality!
As part of the tour, you will spend 4 full days with our qualified coaches. Our coaches are on-hand to make the progression fun and to provide individual feedback. We will ride to the conditions, and change the plan and pace to suit. We keep our group size small so you can get the most out of the sessions. All our coaching sessions are conducted on terrain suitable for progression. Each guest will receive a minimum of 5 hours of group coaching per day.
Get to Know Our Coaches
Throughout the week you will be hosted by our qualified coaches and guides including:
Juliane Bray Juliane has been a pioneer for women’s snowboarding. From her early days as a professional snowboarder, she rose through the ranks to compete at the highest level. There aren’t many athletes that can claim they have had their own pro model snowboard, but Juliane has! Juliane’s long career has seen her with multiple wins at the Burton Open, she’s competed at the 2006 and 2010 Winter Olympics and was the first New Zealand athlete to win a Snowboard World Cup. She brings her years of experience and knowledge from the competitive circuit to her role as a high-performance coach. Juliane is a pro at helping riders who have plateaued. She’ll have you trying new tricks and breaking through barriers you never thought possible. She’ll get you covering more ground and trying new things in no time. When Juliane isn’t our rock-star coach in Japan, you can find her in Wanaka, New Zealand, coaching the high performance squads at Cardrona Resort.
Fiona Duncan Fiona has been instrumental in building the the womens program at Mint Tours. She has worked both behind the scenes and on-the-snow in every role possible to help grow our women’s snowboarding community. She’s a natural leader, and a passionate communicator, so it’s no surprise her career as a professional snowboarder led her to become a high-performance snowboard coach and guide in New Zealand, Europe and the United States. Her personal mission is to encourage women to immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the benefits of a healthy and active lifestyle and have the best time possible while doing it. When Fiona isn’t on-snow, you can either find her at the beach or in her pilates studio; she’ll be sharing her passion for surfing with the next generation of female surfers, or teaching the local community the benefits of pilates and leading a healthy lifestyle.
Daily Pilates and Stretching Sessions
Snowboarding and stretching. It’s the perfect combination, and the secret to many professional snowboarder’s long careers. Each evening, join professional pilates instructor, Fiona Duncan as she leads a group pilates and stretching session to help you recover after your long day riding powder.
Spend a day with our Photographer
For one of our coaching days we’ll have our photographer on hand to capture all the action. You’ll be able to download your photo’s so you can keep all your friends up to date with your New Zealand adventures. We’ll make sure you go home with your iconic New Zealand shot.
Is this tour for you?
If you are looking to progress your snowboarding then yes, this tour is for you! Our coaching and freeride sessions are perfect intermediate riders, and you will always ride with like-level snowboarders. Our women’s tours have been designed by women who ride, for women who ride (or want to!). We know you need guidance, practice, time and encouragement in the company of like-level riders.
During our coaching sessions we keep our group size small for a more personal experience between our guests and guides. This ensures you get the most out of your time with us, and keeping the groups small means less time waiting and more time riding!
Optional Heli Ski Day
For any guests wanting to experience the thrill of heli-skiing in New Zealand, we will have an optional heli-ski adventure. You don’t have to compete for fresh lines here. We will have access to thousands of square kilometres of terrain. Whether you are a first time heli skier or a savvy veteran, your mind will be blown by the mountains and the snow quality. There is a huge amount of terrain that we can access and our guides know how to find whatever it is that you are looking for, ensuring that every guest is smiling. We’ll be able to choose from open bowls, low-angle powder, ramps, couloirs, glacier runs, and New Zealand steep faces. We’ll ride in alpine terrain (no trees) and on glaciers. The scale, vastness and beauty of the Southern Alps is awe-inspiring. The terrain we ride will suit the ability level and pace of our group. Our goal is to find the best powder you have ever experienced. There are no groomed runs here, all of the riding is in the backcountry and provided by Mother Nature. We aim to ride untracked snow on every run.
We make sure all our guests stay in comfortable accommodation that’s in the best location. Our 5 Bedroom house is located just a stone’s throw from both the lakefront and Wanaka’s shopping, restaurants and bars. Nothing has been spared at our house, stunning natural oak furnishings, and Über-modern Eames style furniture. Sunlight pours in through the magnificent patio doors. We have a gorgeous kitchen that is fully equipped to prepare breakfast and afternoon snacks. Every bedroom boasts 2 comfortable single beds and its own ensuite, and all have the luxury of instant and endless gas hot water. The bedrooms have been carefully furnished to create a warm and cosy atmosphere. Heating throughout the property ensure you stay cosy on those frosty winter evenings.
This tour is open to all female snowboarders; from novice to advanced we’ve got you covered. Our coaches and hosts create a safe and fun environment where female snowboarders can feel comfortable to ‘give it a go’. We’re here to support you along the way, both on and off-snow. When you ride with us, we’ve always got your back.
The focus of our New Zealand tour is progression, and Cardrona is the perfect place to get your riding dialled. Your coaches are also here to show you what snowboarding in Wanaka is all about, with a few unique NZ experiences thrown in along the way.
To kick-start your progression, you’ll spend your first 4 days on-snow with our highly qualified coaches. You’ll spend 4 full days getting coached by our professional coaches including legend kiwi shredder, Juliane Bray. Juliane is an ex-professional snowboarder and Winter Olympian and now spends her time coaching athletes with the Cardrona High Performance Centre. During our coaching sessions we have access to the facilities at the world class Cardrona High Performance Centre. If weather permits we’ll have a video analysis session so you can maximise your progression with feedback form the coaches.
Cardrona is home to arguably the best terrain park set up in the southern hemisphere, and it’s also home to perfect groomers, great off-piste and The Arcadia Chutes offering something for the more experienced riders.
