Ride New Zealand's best heli-ski terrain on our hosted 5 night tour to Methven

The big mountains of the The Arrowsmith, Ragged, and Palmer Ranges have incredible advanced-level terrain and are a serious place with rapidly changing weather and snow conditions. These ranges are located at the headwaters of the Rakaia and Rangitata Rivers and catch snow from every winter storm to deliver New Zealand’s most consistent heli-ski conditions. The terrain here demands the best and most experienced heli-ski guides in the business. We will fly with small groups where the focus is on safety, and great kiwi service. While Methven Heliski has terrain to get your heart racing, there is also terrain to suit strong intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders. From powder bowls and open faces to steep chutes and technical lines.

Our first day on-snow is a warm-up day riding the nearby resort, Mt Hutt. The resort is home to some of the most challenging terrain of all the commercial resorts, so it’s a great place to warm up for the following heli days.

Our base for this tour is Methven, located around one hour from Christchurch Airport, and is the perfect staging area to explore New Zealand’s best heli-ski terrain. Our centrally located lodge includes private single share rooms with breakfast and dinners daily, an in-house bar and is situated right across from the new Opuke Thermal Hot Springs.

A typical kiwi farming town that transforms into a bustling ski village during the winter centred around the famous Blue and Brown Pubs.
