Go backcountry snowboarding in Northern Norway this April.
For Spring 2023, we’ve scheduled a unique backcountry program based at Tamok, in Northern Norway and hosted by local guides Jarkko-Juhani Henttonen and Sami Modenius.
Our Tamok Backcountry Camp is suitable for most ability levels and is a great way to learn how to ride safely through alpine terrain either on snowboards with snowshoes, splitboards or touring skis. We also have Ilahu Pow Surf boards available to ride throughout the camps and if you’re new to backcountry touring, we have rental options available via local retailers.
Whether you are looking to progress your powder riding skills or just eager to discover a few secret spots in the Nordic backcountry, the Tamok Backcountry Camp is for you.

The Tamok Backcountry Camp is open to snowboarders and skiers keen to progress their powder riding skills in cold dry arctic powder. The Camp is suited for those wanting to practice alpine skills including avalanche awareness and backcountry route finding.
COHKKA CAMP IN TAMOK
Our basecamp is surrounded by 14 peaks offering new runs for days for all skill levels. In this camp you will get 6 days of guided riding by IFMGA mountain guide Sami Modenius and Finlav LT1 snow safety course + more advanced snow safety information from Jarkko-Juhani Henttonen.
COHKKA CAMP ACCOMMODATION
The accommodation is in Huset mountain hut. Huset offers 4 persons rooms to sleep in. The style of the accommodation is a modest mountain hut, but here we are going to enjoy other things than hanging in your bedroom! If you are travelling alone, you can share a room with fellow campers. The Huset has a big living room for hanging out with the crew, eating good food and having few beers in the evenings.
CAT SKIING IN NORWAY
On the super snowy days, when it’s best to stay below the tree line, the backup snowcat will take us 300m vertical up the slope to access easy mellow runs through the trees and avoiding high alpine variables.
