Nordic Powder Camps are backcountry events with three full days of riding and having fun above the arctic circle in Lapland, Finland. Whether you are looking for an easy way to progress your skills or just eager to discover a few secret spots in the Lapland backcountry, the Nordic Powder Camps are for you.
The Camps are designed so you can either join to ride with the pros, or learn how to correctly ride powder in the backcountry with a snowboard, skis or pow surf board. We have SNÖrnie & Ilahu -Powsurf Boards for you to test and use through the whole camp so you don’t even have to have your own powsurf.
Our guides are picking the best lines based on most ability levels and fitness in order to help you master those powder turns. Our Nordic Powder Camps are in a cooperation with SNÖrnie -PowSurf Boards and The Lucky Ranch.

We offer you a chance to build your own powsurf board during the camp with the master SNÖrnie himself. Possible in both the camps and tour.
Get in shape for the tour
Climbing up the snowy hills and fells with snowshoes, splitboard or skis takes lots of energy. We offer you a ”Get in shape” -web course to participate before the camp so you can enjoy even more of the riding. Duration 6 weeks. Offered by professional personal trainers.
Take it easy riding the resort
As an option, you might feel like just going to the ski resort to ride without hiking. Book one of our guides to come with you to show you the best lines. Possible in both camps and tour.
Experience dogs pulling with your snowboard/skis
Our guides uses their dogs pulling them out from backcountry with a snowboard. Try this out yourselves! Possible in Snörnie Camp and Tour.
Sami Reindeer farm
Evenings after a long day of riding are a good time to do cultural activities. Visit a real Sami reindeer farm and learn about Sami culture and reindeer farming.
Horseback riding Aurora hunt
Want to experience the snowy nature by horseback riding? Our horseback guide takes you to dark trails by only using headlights and possible auroras lighting your path. Possible in Lucky Ranch Camp and tour.
After long days of hiking and riding you might feel like calming down and focus for your mind and body. Our professional Yin Yoga instructor gives yoga lessons every evening before sauna in all of the Camps and Tour.

IS THIS FOR ME?
These camps are mostly offered for snowboarders / skiers from Finland and Sweden and can be participated from other countries too. If you know how to handle your snowboard/skis in the groomed slopes and want to learn how to ride powder with snowboard/powsurf board – or want to have good time riding new spots with nice co-riders and experience something new – these camps are for you.
The headquarters of this camp is in Rantajärvi, Sweden. Rantajärvi is located in Tornevalley, near by Finnish border and is the next village of Svanstein. Area is full of big hills offering many options for riding powder in the backcountry. The hills are all having trees all the way to the top, offering coverage for the winds and collecting all the snow from the storms. Area has lots of treecutting fields and rocky surfaces offering those wide open riding spots as well for all skill levels.
SNÖRNIE CAMP ACCOMMODATION
Your package includes accommodation in Rantajärvi Vildmark in the middle of a small village of 60 habitants. Vildmark offers 8 x 2 persons rooms that can either be booked for you and your friend or shared with other member of the camp.
LUCKY RANCH CAMP
The headquarter of this camp is in Lucky Ranch holiday center in a small town of Pelkosenniemi next to Pyhä ski resort. Area has many big, wide open fells and lots of treerides to choose for all ski levels. Pyhä is known as mecka of backcountry riding in Finland. I think there is nothing else to add there, it tells it all.
LUCKY RANCH ACCOMMODATION
Your package includes accommodation at Lucky Ranch in the town of Pelkosenniemi. You can either book a 2 room apartment (2pcs) or three bedroom house for a private group or share it with other campers as as a commune house. One of the apartments has 1 single bed and 1 double bed + futon beds as extra. Another one has 2 single beds + sofa bed. Three bedroom house has 1 large double bed, 2 single beds and 2 sofa beds
Nordic Powder Tour is bringing together the perks of both Camps: altogether 4 full days of riding and 4 nights, which two of them is spent at The Lucky Ranch and two of them at The SNÖrnie Camp. In this Tour you can enjoy beautiful, but different riding spots in both places and we assure that you will get to bring home a tired body and a bunch of good memories!

Professional snowboarder who changed the whole snowboarding scene back in 96' with his legendary and massive backside air method in Riksgränsen, Sweden. He is the co-founder of the clothing brand WeSC and the snowboard company Allian, where he has a bunch of his own PROMODEL boards. In his last move he started to be a guide for Mint Tours in Japan and the Nordic.

He was a PRO biker in Sweden in his early 20s but now he have put his focus on snowboarding and is finally expressing his passion on building and shaping boards of his own.

WHAT IS A NORDIC POWDER CAMP?
Our Powder Camps offer you the best chance to ride deep, nordic powder or learn how to do it. Our experienced guides have an in-depth knowledge of the areas, which gives you the ultimate advantage when your chasing deep, un-tracked snow. We’ll aim to ride and ski a lot of powder, glades and trees so please be prepared to ride and ski in the trees. Of course weather and conditions are impossible to predict so guests must be prepared to ride or ski anything.
WHAT HAPPENS ON ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE DAY?
Once you’ve signed up for the tour we will send you through a comprehensive guide with details about the tour including the arrival and departure day process, recommended arrival and departure times, travel options and transportation information.
WHAT IF I’M TRAVELLING SOLO?
About 99% of our guests are travelling solo, so you’ll be in good company. If you are travelling solo, you will be paired with another guests to room with. Your group will be made up mostly of solo travellers. Our groups generally mix well due to a shared interest in snowsports and an eagerness to learn powder riding even more.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON THIS TOUR?
Between 8 to 16 persons per camp with a guide to guest ratio of 1:4. We know that by offering one of the smallest client to guide ratio in the industry allows you to ski or snowboard at your preferred pace, and ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone. This ensures you get the most out of your time with us, and keeping the groups small means less time waiting and more time riding powder.
ARE THESE CAMPS/TOUR RIGHT FOR ME?
These camps and tour are best suited to skiers and snowboarders who can link turns in groomed slopes and also for ones that can also handle riding powder. If you’re not sure, give us a call. Weather and ski conditions are impossible to predict so guests must be prepared to ride or ski anything. If you have never ridden in powder or shy away from it at your local resort, this is the tour to learn. We have 3-4 guides so we can divide the groups with skill and condition level.
WHICH HILLS/FELLS/RESORTS WILL WE VISIT?
We keep the camps/tour itinerary flexible so you can ride at the resort on at some of the days of your stay. Each day your guide will make the decision on which hills/fells to ride based on a number of factors including weather, snowfall, group ability and interest. We can access within easy reach of our centrally located accommodations with terrain ranging from wide-open mellow runs to deep and steep untracked tree riding and skiing.
CAN I ARRIVE EARLY OR STAY ON AFTER THE TOUR?
For most tours you can arrive earlier or stay later. We can tailor the trip to suit your travel plans. Speak with one of our tour specialists when you are booking and they will be more than happy to assist.
WHO ARE THE GUIDES?
All of our tours are guided by friendly, knowledgeable and expertly trained guides who are passionate about the mountains. Most of our guides work for us season after season. If you have a preferred Mint guide, just let us know and we’ll be able to tell you which tours they are leading.
CAN YOU BOOK FLIGHTS/TRAIN?
Yes. Let us take the hassle out of selecting the right flights / trains for the camps/tour. We can book you the best options, with no booking fees.
IS TRANSPORTATION INCLUDED?
Transportation to the camps is not included in the price. Ask us about meeting up with other campers prior to the tour to ride share.
DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?
Yes. All guests on camps/tour need to be covered be comprehensive travel insurance. Once you have booked on the tour, we strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance. We offer all of our tour guests discounted snow specific travel insurance.
WHAT HAPPENS ONCE I’VE BOOKED?
Once you’ve booked your spot on tour, we will send you through a booking confirmation and provide updates about the tour including the arrival and departure day process, a map of where we meet, recommended arrival and departure times, travel options, Visa requirements and transportation information. We will send out a Pre Departure Guide 30 days prior to departure. Prior to the camps/tour commencing we will invite you to a group chat which is managed by your tour manager and guides.
HOW CAN I CHECK MY ABILITY LEVEL?
The best way to check if a tour is suited to your ability is by speaking with one of our tour specialists. They will be able to determine if the tour you have selected is a good fit for your ability, as well as suggesting other tour options.
HOW DO I GET TO PYHÄ / RANTAJÄRVI?
We’ll provide you with a guide with details on how to get there. If it’s your fist time to Lapland or if you’re unsure about travel arrangements, often we can link you up with other tour guests to travel with.
HOW DO I CHECK AVAILABILITY?
Speak with one of our tour specialists. As this is a small group tour with limited availability, it’s best to get in touch early to avoid disappointment.
DO YOU TAKE SKIERS & SNOWBOARDERS?
Yes! We are ski and snowboard friendly. Please note that the majority of our tours are led by snowboard guides.
CAN I RENT EQUIPMENT?
Yes! We can arrange rental equipment for most destinations, however we do recommend bringing your own equipment. We do recommend bringing powder boards or ski’s for camps/tours.
WHAT EQUIPMENT SHOULD I BRING?
Lapland can be a cold place in winter, with temperatures typically ranging from 0 to -30. We strongly recommend that guests dress in clothing specific for traveling in backcountry areas. We recommend that guests have a good quality waterproof jacket and pants, lightweight insulated layer, merino base layers, merino gloves and waterproof gloves, goggles with low light & high light lenses, sunglasses, balaclava, beanie, and helmet. We recommend that all guests bring their own ski or snowboarding equipment for the tour (board, boots, bindings & outerwear). Powder boards and ski’s are recommended.
WHO WILL BE ON MY TOUR?
Your group will be made up of snowboarders/skiers from diverse backgrounds mostly from Finland and Sweden and will be varied in age. Our groups generally mix well due to a shared interest in snowsports and an eagerness to explore all that riding powder has to offer.
