When temperatures rise, we hit the alpine resorts for a cool change

Join us for our High Country Shuttle Weekend. From our base in Bright, Victoria’s ultimate Mountain Bike destination, we’ve got 6 purpose-built bike parks within easy reach and local trails that finish 50m from a river-side brewery. On this gravity-fed tour we visit two of the best purpose-built mountain bike parks in the region – Falls Creek and Dinner Plain. This tour is the perfect combo for when the temperatures start to rise. We spend a day shuttling at Falls Creek and a guided day in Dinner Plain. The high altitude guarantees a cool change from the parks located in the valleys. Falls Creek has some of Australia’s most talked-about manicured flow trail and Dinner Plain has plenty of flowy natural trails. Our tour starts and finishes in NE Vic’s cycle mecca Bright, where you can enjoy some heard-earned and ice cold local craft beers, beside the Ovens River.

Dinner Plain is the perfect MTB destination when temperatures start to rise. Situated in the trees above 1500m, its high altitude makes this place a cool change from the parks located in the valleys. Featuring flowy natural trails, plenty of climbing, sweet descending, a pump track in the car park and even some downhill shredding. Blizzard Brewery sits midway between the two drop-in points, so after a good pump and pedal, it’s always a good place to stop for some hydration.

Falls Creek Mountain Bike Park has some of Australia’s most talked-about trails, featuring manicured flow trails, gnarly downhills and plenty of cross country singletrack that start and finish at the resort base. We include  a full day of shuttles so you can bag as many runs as possible. Ride over 40 kilometres of machine-built singletrack, winding through the serene snow gums and brilliant alpine terrain. This is a destination for some serious mountain biking fun!

FRIDAY TO SUNDAY

Join us for a weekend in North East Victoria's High Country. Arrive after work on a Friday and get ready to spend the next 2 days smashing some serious vertical as our local guides show you why this region has the rep of being Australia's premiere MTB destination. On Friday night our guides will be on-hand to greet you and help you settle in. On Sunday, our tour concludes in Bright. Extra nights accommodation and riding are always on offer.

WHAT BIKE TO BRING

If you could bring any bike, it would be a long travel enduro bike that can handle the gnarliness of the bike parks, yet pedal to the surrounding backcountry trails if that's your thing. If you are trying to decide what bike to bring, keep in mind that the bike parks all have terrain that warrants a bike that can handle steep trails, rocks and jumps which will take you and your bike to the edge. You'll also need a full-face helmet, knee pads, elbow pads and gloves. Ask us for a full gear list or to arrange rentals.

ABILITY & FITNESS

This tour is open to riders of all ability levels. Each day your guides will give helpful pointers on any questions you may have. Probably the most important aspect of mountain biking is the willingness to sharpen your skills. If you're comfortable riding singletrack then this tour will be suitable. If you don’t quite have the fitness to tackle some of the big ascents, don't worry, you've got a day of gravity shuttles at Falls Creek to take you back to the top after each descent.

ACCOMMODATION

Throughout the tour you'll stay in a modern motel with bike friendly facilities that is centrally located in Bright. Our comfortable single share rooms are equipped with King beds, private ensuite bathroom, TV, and free WiFi. This cycle friendly motel has dedicated bike wash bay, bike maintenance bench with pump, and custom-built, fully-enclosed bike security shed with individually-lockable racks.

TRANSPORT

Throughout the tour, you'll travel in comfortable transport with a bike trailer and rack system made exclusively for mountain bike adventure touring. You'll only need to build your bike once on arrival day, as we'll transport your equipment between each destination so that they are set up and ready to ride.

LOCAL HOSTS

This tour is hosted by our local MTB team. Not only do they know every marked trail, they are looking forward to showing you some of their ‘local’s only’ secret spots. Their big mountain experience makes them the perfect hosts for the weekend. They are always more than happy to provide you with some tips and feedback on the mountain, and share a beer and some laughs at the end of the day.

Highlights

10km Gravity Trail

Falls Creek boasts an unbroken 10km gravity trail linking up stand-outs High Voltage, Wishing Well and the brand new Flowtown. All up this is a 525m descent and takes in awesome terrain with berms, jumps and flowing built features all the way from the Summit to the Ticket Box.

Highlights

Australia's MTB Mecca

Victoria's High Country is a mountain biker’s paradise in its own right, but when you bundle Falls Creek and Dinner Plain up together in our shuttle and guide Weekend, you’ve got something truly incredible.

Highlights

Stay Hydrated

At the end of every ride, there’s always beer – and few do it better than Bright Brewery, owned by a local mountain biker who knows how to make cyclists welcome.
