From the high Andes of Valle Nevado to the volcanic Nevados de Chillan

Our Chile Roadtrip from Concepción to Santiago is about exploring more than just one mountain. The trip connects two very different zones in the Chilean Andes, the volcanic terrain of Nevados de Chillán and the high altitude slopes of Valle Nevado. With a local snowboard guide and a Mint Tours guide taking care of the logistics, you can focus on the riding while traveling through Chile and experiencing two iconic mountains along the way.

The trip kicks off in Nevados de Chillán, where you will spend five nights and four full days riding in-bounds with the guides while staying ski-in ski-out at the luxury Termas de Chillán Hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, along with access to the hotel’s thermal pools, yoga and spa after riding. The resort sits on an active volcano and from the chairlift you can see steam rising from volcanic vents. The terrain offers wide open slopes up high, along with bowls, gullies and playful natural features across the mountain. Chillán is known for big storms, and when a system rolls through the Andes you can expect deep pow days with refills every lap. Staying on the mountain means you are ready to go when the lifts start turning each morning. For those wanting to explore the backcountry, snowmobile access can also be booked in Chillán when conditions allow.

After five nights in the mountains, the trip heads north toward Santiago. On transfer day we stop at a Chilean winery where you can enjoy lunch in the vineyard before continuing the journey.

The final two nights are spent in downtown Santiago, giving you time to experience the city in the evenings. On one of those days we drive high into the Andes, climbing the famous 55 switchbacks that lead up to Valle Nevado. Sitting above 10,000 feet and overlooking Santiago far below, the mountain offers wide open terrain and long fall-line runs that ride very differently to Chillán. With the guides you will spend the day exploring the best zones on the mountain before heading back down the switchbacks to Santiago for our final night in town, spent enjoying a meal together. The tour concludes in Santiago the next morning.

ABILITY & PACE

This tour is designed for strong intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable riding the whole mountain, including steeper runs, off piste terrain and variable snow conditions. It is not suitable for beginners or first time snowboarders. Both Nevados de Chillán and Valle Nevado use T-bars in parts of the mountain, so you should be confident using these lifts or open to learning during the trip. Riders should also be comfortable spending full days on the mountain and keeping up with the group throughout the day.

TOUR STYLE

This trip focuses on exploring the mountain with local knowledge and making the most of the conditions each day. Riding is all in-bounds at both Nevados de Chillán and Valle Nevado, with the guides helping you find the best terrain and zones on the mountain. Short hikes may occasionally be used to reach certain areas, but no touring or backcountry travel is required. For those wanting to explore beyond the resort boundaries, snowmobile accessed backcountry riding can be booked in Nevados de Chillán when conditions allow.

ACCOMMODATION

In Nevados de Chillán you will stay five nights ski-in ski-out at the luxury Termas de Chillán Hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included, along with access to the hotel’s thermal pools, yoga and spa after riding. The final two nights are spent in Santiago at the Wyndham Pettra Hotel in Lo Barnechea, a comfortable base on the edge of Santiago and close to the road that leads up to Valle Nevado. Single Rooms (1 person per room) and Twin Share Rooms (2 people per room) are available.

SNOW & CONDITIONS

This tour is scheduled during the heart of the South American winter, when storm systems regularly move across the Andes. Nevados de Chillán is known for strong storms that can deliver deep pow days, while Valle Nevado’s high elevation above 10,000 feet often helps preserve snow quality. By visiting two different mountain zones, the trip increases the chances of finding the best conditions during your time in Chile.

FULLY GUIDED

This tour is fully guided by a local snowboard guide together with a Mint Tours guide. Both guides are on the mountain each day, helping you explore the terrain and find the best zones based on the conditions. The local guide brings deep knowledge of the mountains, while the Mint guide keeps the trip running smoothly from start to finish and ensures the group is looked after throughout the journey.

GROUP SIZE & EXPERIENCE

This is a small group tour with a maximum of 8 guests, allowing the guides to adapt each day to the group and move efficiently around the mountain. Smaller groups mean less waiting, more flexibility and more time riding the best terrain. While on the mountain you will have two guides riding with the group each day. A local snowboard guide with deep knowledge of the terrain at both Nevados de Chillán and Valle Nevado, along with an experienced Mint Tours guide who hosts the trip from start to finish.

You will need to be able to ride a T-Bar for this tour, or be open to learning. Weather and snow conditions are impossible to predict, so guests must be prepared to ride a variety of terrain and snow conditions.

If you have never ridden powder or tend to avoid it at your local resort, this tour is not be the best place to learn.

When you are ready to book we will ask you to self-evaluate your ability. The more accurately you assess your riding level, the better the experience will be for both you and the group.
