Tomamu is one of Hokkaido’s hidden secrets…For now. The resort is situated in the heart of Hokkaido and regularly scores huge quantities of blower pow. There’s a variety of terrain to explore, from empty groomers and perfect park, but the real highlight here is the ‘expert’ terrain which opens up un-tracked tree riding options right across the resort. You just need to sign a waiver daily and you can ride anywhere within the resort boundaries without having to worry about running into ski-patrol and losing your pass. This ‘Access All Areas’ pass gets you into the trees and ready to shred some of the best in-bounds terrain around. There is also an affordable cat ski operation that runs throughout the season which is well worth a look. The resort also has amazing facilities. Tomamu is constantly upgrading the lift system and is opening up new terrain, there’s modern western style hotel accommodation, there’s an indoor water park with wave pool and all of this is within easy access from Sapporo Chitose Airport.
