Shiga Kogen Snowboard Tours
Shiga Kogen is comprised of 21 resorts that can be accessed on a single lift ticket, making it one of Japan’s largest ski areas. Some of the resorts are connected and can be accessed either via their extensive lift system or resort shuttle. It’s also the highest resort in Japan, so if it’s raining at other Nagano resorts, then it’s snowing in Shiga! Another advantage of Shiga Kogen is that it’s entirely below the tree line so when visibility closes in at other resorts, Shiga is the place to be. It has a variety of terrain and caters well to beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders who enjoy riding groomers, however there are some tree riding options if you know where to look. Access to Shiga Kogen is relatively easy, with access from Tokyo via the bullet train to Nagano and then a direct bus to Shiga Kogen or via a direct bus from Tokyo Narita or Haneda airports.
