Hakkoda Snowboard Tours
Hakkoda is a backcountry mecca, well know for its super deep powder, and breath-taking vistas, and traditional local culture. Some say it’s the holy grail of snowboarding in Japan – no crowds, lots of snowfall, abundant fresh tracks, and epic off-piste riding! Located in the northernly most part of Honshu, Hakkoda itself receives a mammoth 14 – 20 metres of snowfall per season – and as you can imagine, it’s the most lightest and driest powder (often better than other resorts on Honshu!). The resort is definitely not for inexperienced riders. Spanning 8 mountains, Hakkoda is one huge off-piste resort, with countless tree-runs and glades to explore, and serviced by only one ropeway (and a handful of chairs). For backcountry riders however, Hakkoda is heaven! Beyond the ropeway you’ll find unpatrolled terrain with infinite lines of powder, and most accessible by only a short hike (phew!). Due to it’s advanced terrain, including countless tree wells and unmarked courses, and somewhat unpredictable snow conditions, our BC tour highly recommended! Hakkoda definitely ticks all the necessary boxes when it comes to the perfect powder paradise!
