We start in Rovaniemi, Finland and travel across the Russian border to the Kola Peninsula. This area sits entirely above the Arctic Circle, and juts out between the White and Barents Seas. This is a place where only the hardiest survive. This area may not be on the tourist radar, but that’s what makes it special. You’ll get to travel to a land dominated by forests, tundras, mountain ranges, crystal clear lakes and rivers and rugged coastline. Our base for this tour is the city of Kirovsk. A soviet era mining town and the major skiing centre in Northwest Russia. The small town is surrounded by the Khibiny Mountains and it is close to two ski resorts: modern Big Wood and traditional Kukisvumchorr. You’ll get to ride at the surrounding resorts with our Russian and English speaking guides. The city of Kirovsk is also one of the world’s premier destinations to see the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful natural phenomenon visible from Earth.

In the evening, join your guides for dinner at one of the local restaurants. There is everything from traditional Russian fare, to western options. If you’re looking to immerse yourself in the local food scene, you’ll be wanting to try the local pelmeni (Russian-style ravioli), and deer meat.If you’re looking for some nightlife, surprisingly Kirovsk has a Craft Beer Bar that’s popular with the local snow community. It not only serves local and international beers, but also has some amazing local produce including local grilled meats and steaks, burgers and the freshest oysters, mussels and scallops from the nearby White Sea.
