Roadtrip through the northernmost regions of Sweden and Norway

Our journey begins in Gällivare located 100 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland to ride the ski area of Dundret, home to snowboarding legends Ingemar Backman and Johan Olofsson. The world heritage site of Laponia here in Gällivare is also a perfect spot to view the Northern Lights.

We travel north through Kiruna, Abisko and stay at Björkliden situated at the foot of the highest mountains in Sweden.  After snowboarding we head up to the historic Låktatjåkko Mountain Lodge via snow cat to a lofty 1,228 metres above sea level. Next day we ride down and make our way to the iconic Riksgränsen, but not before visiting the local sled dogs.

Explore ‘Riks’ with a guest appearance from Ingemar Backman, checking out his favourite spots including where he made his record breaking backside air. The afternoon après sessions are legendary at Riksgränsen and for those keen, there’s an optional heliski day into the Swedish backcountry.

The road trip heads further north across the border into Narvik, Norway. Here we check out Narvikfjellet ski area which has one of Scandinavia’s largest vertical drops and boasts challenging off-piste riding along with incredible views across the fjords.

ABOUT DUNDRET

We ride Dundret Lapland ski area located only 10mins drive from the centre of Gällivare. This compact but varied resort has 5 lifts including high-speed quad chairs plus a well maintained terrain park and some challenging tree runs. Dundret is the perfect warm-up for our Nordic Road Trip.

ABOUT BJORKLIDEN

The ski resort of Fjällby – Björkliden is one of the oldest in Sweden and boasts the country's third greatest vertical drop, big snowfall and Scandinavia’s most epic views of the 'Gates of Lapland'. There's 23 groomed pistes, varying from beginner to advanced along with vast off-piste terrain.

ABOUT RIKSGRANSEN

Riksgränsen is Sweden’s northernmost ski area with a rich snowboarding history from the Arctic Challenge and Ingemar Backman's legendary backside air to world class banked slalom events and epic backcountry riding. We stay on-mountain close to the lifts and right by the apres bar.

ABOUT NARVIK

Narvikfjellet is located near the far end of the deep Ofot Fjord, 220 km north of the arctic circle and is North Norway’s largest alpine resort with some of the largest vertical in Scandinavia. With a mix of ski lifts and gondolas that take you up to 1006 m in 10-15 minutes with views of the surrounding deep fjords and high mountains.

SNOW & CONDITIONS

This tour is running at one of the best times to experience the Arctic Circle. The days are longer and with the extra hours of sunlight, the temperatures are rising, which makes it the perfect season to spend more time outdoors. You can still expect to get regular snowfall, with temperatures rarely getting above 0 degrees Celsius. Even if we don’t get fresh snow overnight, the cold temperatures and our local knowledge will ensure you’ll be able to ski and snowboard light dry snow.

SMALL GROUPS

We offer one of the smallest client to guide ratio’s in the industry which ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone. Our small groups allow greater manoeuvrability and ease of access to the best areas a destination can offer. When we are on mountain, our guest to guide ratio is 4 people per guide. This also makes for a more personal experience between our guests and guides.
