28 July – Arrival Day
Your guide will meet your flight at Queenstown Airport and transfer you to our accommodation in town. We’re there to make sure you’re all settled in and ready to hit the slopes the next morning. In the evening we will head out for a welcome dinner so you can meet the rest of the crew on tour.
29 – 30 July – Coronet Peak / The Remarkables
We spend our first 2 days on snow at either The Remarkables or Coronet Peak, where you can warm up and spend the day freeriding with the group. Full resort guiding and hosting is included to help you get the most out of the mountains. At night we’ll head to a local pub for dinner and après.
31 July – NZ Adventure Day: Milford Sound
For our first adventure day, we make our way through breathtaking scenery to visit Milford Sound. Carved by glaciers during the ice ages, Milford Sound is home to New Zealand’s most famous fiord, and it is here where we embark on a boat cruise among the spectacular cliffs, mountain peaks and waterfalls. We spend the evening back in Queenstown.
01 Aug – Coronet Peak / The Remarkables / Optional Heli Day
You have freedom of choice for your 3rd day on the slopes. Explore more of the groomed terrain or tackle some off-piste at Coronet Peak or the Remarkables. Or if you’re hunting some big mountain riding, we can organise a full day of Heli-skiing trip.
02 Aug – Transfer Day – Earnslaw / Wanaka
Our next adventure day sees us experiencing New Zealand farm life, with a visit to a local sheep station at Walter Peak. Watch the farm dogs round up sheep from the hill paddocks before making their way to the shearing shed to be shorn. We also take a memorable cruise on the iconic steamship, the TSS Earnslaw, which is one of the best ways to take in Queenstown’s famed Lake Wakatipu. That afternoon, we depart Queentown and make our way to our accommodation in Wanaka. We spend our first night with a welcome dinner in Wanaka.
03 August – Treble Cone
Our first ski day in Wanaka is at Treble Cone or ‘TC’ to the locals. TC has some of the longest in-bounds terrain in the Southern Lakes and rarely gets crowded. The top Saddle Basin chair sits at 1900 meters and a short hike to the peak rewards you with mind blowing views of Mt Aspiring followed by powder turns back to the chair lift.
04 August – Cardrona
We spend a full day riding at Cardrona. ‘Cardies’ is known for big open bowls and challenging in-bounds terrain in the Arcadia Chutes. But it’s the perfectly built terrain parks and halfpipes that put this popular Southern Lakes ski area on the world map. After a day on the slopes, we might go have a drink with the locals and sit around the fire at the iconic Cardrona Hotel. In the evening you have the option of joining us for dinner at one of the local restaurants or you can just relax at the lodge.
05 August – Transfer day / Ohau / Winery
Departing Wanaka, we make the short journey through to Ohau. We stop along the way to visit the cellar door of a local winery in one of the newest wine regions of New Zealand. Sample their award-winning wines and learn why Zealand is renowned for their world-class wineries. We spend our first night with a dinner at Ohau Lodge.
06 August – Ohau
We spend a full day riding Ohau. Situated in the Mackenzie High Country, Ohau ski area caters for all ability levels. The double chair is perfect for cruising those perfect groomers, whereas the more adventurous can hike around the ridgelines in search of powder snow.
07 August – Transfer day / Salmon Farm / Methven
We continue our South Island road trip by making our way North towards Methven. Along the way we stop off at Lake Tekapo, visiting a local Salmon farm where you can feed the fish, relax and take in the beautiful views of nearby Mt Cook. After lunch, we head to our accommodation, Mt Taylor Lodge, to settle in and enjoy a home cooked Kiwi dinner prepared by guru culinary lodge manager Nick.
08 August – Mt Hutt
For our next day on the slopes, we explore the big mountain terrain of Mt Hutt. Stick to the groomers or hit the impressive in-bounds powder bowls. That evening we will hit the town to check out the Blue Pub or Brown pub, located conveniently across the road from each other.
09 & 10 August – Club field / Optional Heli days
Our final days of our road trip are spent skiing one of Methven’s 4 local club fields. These resorts offer some insane terrain and non-existent lift lines. If snow and weather permits, we will visit the area which looks the best for some un-tracked powder turns. If you still need your big mountain fix we can line you up with an amazing heli-ski day in the legendary Arrowsmith Range. Experience true New Zealand big mountain riding with professional guides and all safety equipment provided. We send off our final night with a night on the town.
11 August – Departure day
We say goodbye and transfer everyone to Christchurch Airport. High fives all round!
