Georgia Powder Roadtrip
SPEND 10 DAYS CHASING POWDER IN THE FORMER SOVIET STATE OF GEORGIA
Roadtrip with us through Georgia and not only will you get your powder fix when we ride at Gudauri and Bakuriani, you’ll also experience Georgia’s unique character, nature, culture and hospitality. This will definitely make your tour in the Caucasus an unforgettable experience. Throughout the tour you will be hosted by our local Georgian snowboard guide who is on-hand to show you the best of each area, and his local knowledge will unlock many places that are beyond the reach of most visitors.
On this tour we visit the capital Tblisi, as well as the resort areas, Gudauri and Bakuriani. These resorts are famed for light, dry powder, heavy snowfall and perfect freeride terrain. No trip to Georgia is complete without experiencing the cultural and culinary highlights of Tblisi. To finish the tour, we spend our final day in the city where you’ll get to experience the famous sulphur baths, explore the local markets and finish off with wine tasting and a traditional Georgian feast.
Where is Georgia?
Georgia is situated at the intersection between the West and the East. It shares borders with Russia, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan. This is the reason there is a great variety of cultural and religious traditions. Tbilisi, (where are tour starts and finishes) the capital city of Georgia, is a city where antiquity and modernity, Asia and Europe, East and West, hills and plains, ancient traditions and latest trends co-exist, intertwine and complement each other. Nestled between Europe and Asia and bordering the Middle East, the soaring Great Caucasus offers guests high mountain peaks, vast and wild spaces, boundless slopes of pristine, light, dry powder.
Where we ride – Gudauri & Bakuriani
We spend 4 nights and 3 days exploring Gudauri. The resort is located on the southern slopes of The Greater Caucasus Mountain Range. The resort is situated in the Kazbegi region near the Cross Pass. The lifts network starts at 1,992 m and reaches an altitude of 3,276 m at its highest top station.
We spend 4 nights and 3 days exploring the 3 resorts of Bakuriani – Didveli, Kokhta and Mitarbi. The 3 resorts are situated on the northern slope of Trialeti Range, at the foot of the breathtaking Caucasus Mountains. The ski areas are situated between the elevations of 1,740 and 2,702 m. Didveli is the largest, highest and and most developed (2702 m), Kokhta is the oldest ski area (2155 m) and Mitarbi is the newest resort (2296 m).
Snow & Conditions
The Caucasus Mountain Range offers great snow conditions from mid-January until mid-April. The area receives an average of 15 m of snowfall per year. Due to colder temperatures, light and dry powder is most likely to be found in mid-February to mid-March. Even if we don’t get fresh snow overnight, the altitude and our local knowledge will ensure you’ll be able to ride light dry snow days after a storm.
Local Guides & Local Experiences
Throughout the tour you will be hosted by our local Georgian snowboard guide who is on-hand to show you the best of each area, and his local knowledge will unlock many places that are beyond the reach of most visitors. You’ll get an authentic experience and cultural insights with visits to local towns, restaurants, and après-ski.
