Arrival day, Rovaniemi, Finland (2 April, 2018)
Meet & greet at Rovaniemi/Kittilä Airport and transfer to Levi. We will head out for dinner in the evening so you can get to know the guests and guides. After dinner it’s up to you, you can hit the clubs and experience Finland’s infamous apres-ski, or relax at the hotel and take in the sights of the town of Levi.
Levi, Finland (3 April, 2018)
Barely minutes away from our accommodation is the resort of Levi, home to world class skiing and snowboarding in Finland, and the mother of all apres-ski. Levi offers something for everyone, and the exceptional quality of the in-bound runs and park makes Levi one of the best resorts in Finland. Being within the Arctic Circle, Levi gets hit with a good amount of Finnish snow on and off-piste, and is renowned for perfect terrain for all riding abilities. A great location for our warm-up session! Top the day by enjoying Levi´s legendary après-ski, where you can party like there is no tomorrow, see a live band, check out the big screens at the sports bars, or try your luck against the locals at karaoke. For those up for a unique experience, we also offer an action packed ice-karting and ATV trip as an optional extra. Test your driving skills and challenge one another on special-made snow and ice tracks at the Levi Action Park. After an epic first day, it’s time for a well-earned sauna, beers and a big bowl of Finnish specialty, reindeer stew.
Ylläs, Finland (4 April, 2018)
For our next day on the slopes, we take an hour drive to the largest resort in Lapland, Ylläs, which boasts some of the longest runs in Finland (3km long!). Ylläs is a free-riders dream with plenty off access to off-piste areas with untouched snow. Plus, there is four different terrain parks, wide and well-groomed runs, and an incredible backdrop for making those perfect turns! After riding we load up the van’s and we’ll make our way to Kilpisjärvi where we’ll stay for the night. In the evening we’ll head out for a group dinner.
Kilpisjärvi, Finland (5 April, 2018)
We spend our time in Kilpisjärvi trying out some traditional Finnish activities. You’ll head out on the snowmobiles and try snowsurfing on the ‘Fells’. Our good friends at Ilahu Boards have some demo boards available to test out. You’ll get to experience binding-free riding, propelled by gravity. Similar to surfing and skateboarding, the lack of bindings allows exploration of how stance and position affect the ride. Experience the peace of nature and a once in a lifetime experience that is difficult to find anywhere else in the world. After snowmobiling and snowsurfing we’ll have lunch, then it’s time to load up the vans and sit back and relax as we make our way to Narvik, through some of the most beautiful landscape in northern-Norway. Later, hit the town and rub shoulders with the locals at the legendary Narvikguten Pub.
Narvik, Norway (6 April, 2018)
Time for some more turns! Narvik’s ski resort, Narvikfjellet, offers some of the best extreme and alpine skiing in Norway. With famous and unforgettable views of the surrounding fjords and mountains, Narvik is known worldwide for the unique ski terrain it offers, especially for free-riding. Enjoy non-existent lift lines on the way up to tackle world class off-piste riding, and make the most of one of Scandinavia’s largest vertical.
Day 7 Riksgränsen, Sweden (7 April, 2018)
Today we make our way across the border to Sweden. Our destination is Riksgränsen. Today we ride at Riksgränsen and you’ll be in for a big surprise. Riding here is one of the highlights of the tour, the freeride terrain here is insane, with huge rock drops, big powder faces, rolling pistes and there is never any queues at the lifts. Affordable Heliskiing is also one of the major draw cards in Riksgränsen. There are 60 peaks in the area with an altitude over 1300m. For anyone wanting to try heli-skiing, we can get that extra bump of vertical to score some fresh powder turns. In the evening you’ll find yourself drinking with Finnish Laplanders and reindeer farmers and if you like your ladies or men blonde then you’re in luck; well you’re in Sweden after all.
Björkliden / Låktatjåkko, Sweden (8 April, 2018)
After breakfast we depart Riksgränsen and continue our trip through to Sweden. Björkliden is one of Sweden’s most legendary ski resorts, due to it’s incredible backcountry, magnificent views and quality of natural snow. Challenge yourself on one of the many off-piste runs and keep and eye out for the Finnish pro riders, who come here every spring to ride. After riding we head to our final destination, Svanstein Ski. Here you will encounter sweeping views of Lapland’s mountain region and the perfect opportunity to see the Northern Lights. A truly unforgettable Swedish-style lodge experience! Once we arrive we’ll check in to our hotel and then you’ve got the afternoon free to explore the area or just kick back and relax in the sauna. In the evening we’ll have dinner and if we’re lucky we’ll have the opportunity to view the Northern Lights.
Svanstein Ski, Sweden (9 & 10 April, 2018)
After breakfast we’ll head out on the snow. This is one of those places that is off the beaten path and very few people know about. If you do your research, you’ll be frothing to ride some Swedish pow. Apart from the super light dry snow and perfect freeride terrain, the resort has 16 marked runs plus a terrain park with a mini pipe. Svanstein also has some serious cred in the snowboard world. The resort is operated by three legends in snowboarding; Johan Olofsson, Ingemar Backman and Jacob Söderqvist. These guys will show us a few of their favourite runs and if the conditions are right, they will operate the snowmobiles so we’ve got access to the best backcountry zones. If you’re still wanting to tick off some more Swedish experiences after riding, you can have a sauna with the locals, go husky sledding in a nearby village, or do some ice-fishing. At night we’ll get together for a group dinner at our lodge and enjoy a hearty Swedish meal.
Departure day, Rovaniemi, Finland (11 April, 2018)
After breakfast we depart from our hotel load up the van and then hit the road. We’re headed to our final destination, Rovaniemi, the Official Hometown of Santa Claus. We say goodbye and transfer everyone back to Rovaniemi Airport. Hope to see you all next year on another epic Mint Tour!
