Whistler Blackcomb is consistently ranked in the top 10 ski resorts in North America. These 2 side by side resorts offer over 8,000 skiable acres and are linked by one of the most advanced lift systems in the world. The terrain varies from long groomers (up to 11km top to bottom) to alpine bowls, trees, chutes and cliffs. There really is something for everyone at Whistler. The average annual snowfall for the past 10 years is almost 12 meters, this makes Whistler one of the snowiest destinations in whole world let alone just North America. Historically March scores the most amount of snow during the season in Whistler and for this reason we run the tour during this period.
Many of Whistler’s best backcountry runs are just out of reach of the public within the resort boundaries. We will use local ACMG guides with an in-depth knowledge of the snowpack and terrain to keep you safe and still access some amazing big lines that are usually within a short 1 hour hike of the lifts. We will spend 2 days riding and exploring the backcountry terrain with our private backcountry guides.
We will spend an afternoon learning to ride snowmobiles and checking out some great scenery in the Callaghan Valley. After a safety briefing we will ride out on the windy open trails to the historic NorthAir goldmine site. Here we will have an opportunity to have a burn around in the big open area. This is perfect for first time snowmobilers and you might even find yourself having more fun on the sleds than on the slopes!
The Listel Hotel is located in the heart of Whistler village within walking distance to everything you will need while staying here. Both the Whistler and Blackcomb gondola’s are a short walk from the hotel. The deluxe twin share rooms come with 2 queen beds, tv, ensuite, Wi-Fi, fridge and tea & coffee station. The hotel has a hot tub for guests and there is a restaurant and bar in the hotel.
