ASAHIDAKE

Japan Snowboard Tours

Ever wanted to ride an active volcano? Now’s your chance! An absolute must-ride for powder fiends, Asahidake is definitely one of our favourite shred destinations in Japan. Located in the Daisetsuzan National Park, Asahidake is the highest mountain in Hokkaido, meaning the snow is super light and dry. And there is plenty of it – with up to 14 metres each season, it’s absolute heaven! The resort itself is more like unpatrolled backcountry conditions, with the assistance of a cable car providing access to over 500m of vertical terrain. There are only 4 groomed trails, so the resort is not for the faint hearted (or for beginners). Beyond the ropeway, there’s even more fresh tracks to be had for those prepared to earn their turns. Enjoy short, but steep pitches and bowls, natural hits, and off-piste riding that even the most advanced rider and skier would be impressed with. Limited lift capacity and resort facilities keeps the visitor numbers down meaning you’ll enjoy minimal crowds on the slopes. Head off the beaten path and enjoy the tiny Japanese onsen village of Asakidake, home to great izakaya bars and traditional onsens. Experience Japan powder at its ultimate best at Asahidake and you’ll never want to ride anywhere else!
